DESCRIPTION OF POSITION: As a member of the development team, the Assistant Project Manager works under the direction of and assists senior development staff with tasks related to the acquisition, financing, construction and/or rehabilitation of affordable housing developments developed, owned and managed by Charities Housing. The Assistant Project Manager often assist on larger complex projects and ensure the project runs smoothly from start to finish. Assistant Project Managers often complete the day-to-day tasks involved in planning and implementing a project, like coordinating with vendors, monitoring budget spending and collaborating with other departments.


  • 3+ years’ experience in project management or administrative assistance 
  • Strong analytical, verbal and written communication skills
  • Comfortable completing multiple tasks under fixed time constraints and deadlines
  • Ability to self-motivate and work with minimal direction to complete complex tasks 
  • Exceptional organizational and prioritization skills
  • Careful attention to detail
  • Ability to adjust to changing situations 
  • Ability to work independently and within a team of multiple partners and stakeholders


  • A bachelor’s degree in management or a related field. An MBA can substitute
  • Skilled with spreadsheets (Microsoft Excel) and word processing 
  • Proficiency in any management software
  • Knowledge of centralized electronic filing system 


Working closely with a supervisor the Assistant Project Manager is expected to take responsibility for completion of their assignments which may include these and other tasks:

  • Analyzing data as required.
  • Research locational and other amenities for development sites
  • Prepare maps and graphic attachments
  • Draft narratives, letters and certifications
  • Organize and assemble reports, attachments, graphics, budgets, narratives, letters, certifications and other documentation
  • Assist in the preparation and submission of applications for funding 
  • Prepare and distribute RFP and RFQ documents and requests
  • File and maintain contractor materials distributed to owner
  • Assist with updating and maintaining departmental filing system
  • Schedule and create agendas for meetings with individuals/groups inside and outside the organization
  • Assist in acquisition/due diligence activities as assigned 
  • Communicate regularly with supervisor and team
  • Regular administrative support tasks for department
  • Perform assigned duties assigned in an orderly and efficient manner


  • Driving to off-site meetings including construction sites where physical barriers are present.
  • Extensive use of computers and telephone.
  • Sitting at desk for extended periods of time.
  • The ability to lift/move/carry up to and including 50 pounds.
