Casa de Palma
25 S Fifth St San Jose CA 95113
Property Description
Casa de Palma, a 12-room SRO located in the City of San Jose was completed in 1997. The development provides permanent housing for twelve formerly homeless individuals via the Section 8 Mod-Rehab Program of the Department of Housing and Urban Development.
Casa de Palma was an abandoned building that became both an eyesore and a problem in the Horrace-Mann neighborhood. Charities Housing completed extensive renovation of the property with the financial assistance of Citibank, Federal Home Loan Bank’s Affordable Housing Program, Opportunity Fund, and the City of San Jose’s Housing Department. The end result is a positive addition to the ongoing neighborhood revitalization efforts. The property was sold in 1999 to the City of San Jose for the construction of the San Jose City Hall.
